Wrestling Weigh-In Diet

September 24th, 2009 | By customizedworkoutplans

Well first off let me say that you should always loose weight the proper way.  That is dieting correctly and loosing 1-2 pounds per week.  During a wrestling practice you may loose up to 10 pounds of water weight.  You sweat like a phene and your body temperature is constantly heating up and cooling off.  You also sweat more profusely because you keep wipeing off that sweat from your forehead.  Now lets get into a 7 day wrestling pre-weigh in diet tips.

7-4 days before the match

Increase sodium intake 50% then usual (Soups, Pretzels all high in sodium)
Increase water consumption by 50% then usual
Consume an ample amount of carbs and vegetables.

3-2 days before the match

Limit sodium
Increase water consumption by 50% these 2 days
Consume high protein, slow digesting carbs and vegetables.

1 day before the match

No Sodium
Increase water consumption.  Drink water throughout the day.
Consume very high protein, minimal slow digesting carbs and a lot of vegetables.

What this water manipulation method will get your body used to increased sodium intake which will make your body work harder to excrete sodium. Once you get to a day before the match your body will still be pressing the sodium out of your body and your water weight will be even. Now note you must drink plenty of water. It’s somewhat idomatic. The more water you drink the less ‘water weight’ your body holds. Do not limit your water intake.

Another tip within the wrestling stay 3% within your weight class range. If your weight class is 185. Try not to exceed 190.5 lbs. 3% is a healthy range for your body to adjust without feeling fatigued.

Approximately a 12 months ago, I lost all my baby pounds. At this point Thirteen pounds lighter, I would certainly like to eliminate an additional 10 lbs to accomplish my college weight. Regarding the past twelve months I have been faithfully running 2 miles a day on the tread mill wearing a pounds vest. But the scale wouldn’t move. So right after reaching a plateau, I decided it is really time for a fresh strategy. And with all the buzz regarding Nintendo wii Fit, maybe it is time for a high tech approach to pounds loss. Do you think this could be a great solution? What do you think I have to do?
